Description
Hide Glue is a natural bone/hide wood glue traditionally used for veneering, joinery and antique restoration. Within an archery context it can be used for fletching primitive arrows and backing self bows. This 250g (8.8 ounce) bag of Liberon Pearl Glue is more than enough for fletching dozens of arrows or applying two layers on a self bow, (probably with a bit left over depending on how liberal you are with it).
How to use: Soak the glue overnight in about 3 to 4 times its volume of water. Heat this solution in a double pot until all the glue has melted. If the glue is too thick add some more water to the solution. Do not allow to boil.
Precautions: The glue may be reheated two or three times. Old or dirty glue must be discarded and a fresh solution made.
*Please remember moisture is the enemy of hide glue in all its applications and this is the UK, temperature at time of application matters a lot, and the whole process is finicky. This is old school at its best.
