Tabs are much more than just finger protection, a good quality tab is an essential aid to consistent results and a better archery experience. Tabs are a flap of leather or composite layers, some can have a finger spacer which may be preferred by some for the defined slip on release – not unlike the tabs used in Olympic/modern style archery only without the platform which would simply get in the way, (your anchor point being higher up onto your cheek).
